Well today I took my oral depth exam and passed. The title was “APPROACHES TO NON-INTRUSIVE LOAD MONITORING (NILM) IN THE HOME”. No time to rest, though. I need to start work on my PhD Proposal.

Dr. Stephen Makonin is an Adjunct Professor in Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and a Senior Software Engineer at Knowledge Network. He received his PhD in Computing Science at Simon Fraser University in 2014, and has been a software engineer for over 20 years working for various local and international clients. Stephen is currently the Vice-Chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Vancouver Chapter as well as a Senior Member of the IEEE. His research interests include computational sustainability and the understanding of socioeconomic issues that pertain to technological advancement.
